Cuba diserved an Oscar for this movie

More so than he did for Radio. He was fantastic in Radio but I was blown away by his preformance in Men of Honor. He made his character seem so real. I mean that's the point, but still. Deniro was great as always but he really stood out to me.

Giles: Don't taunt the Fear Deamon
Xander: Why can he hurt me?
Giles: No, it's just tacky.

I agree, I think he deserved it more for this than for Jerry Maguire. But then he might not have gotten this role without JM. Still...

No! De Niro and Theron are much better than him, if someone should've got a nomination it would be Leading for De Niro and Supporting for Charlize Theron. Cuba is performing Cuba like always this lousy actor does.

reply

Well I said I believe that if Cuba received an Oscar it should be for this performance, I wasn't comparing him to anyone. But to be honest I think Cuba's was the best performance in this film. I could say the same thing about De Niro and Theron in this film I love what they did but this was not anything different from them. And that's really all I have to say on tis topic.

Come on!The guy is a great actor! He sure was brilliant in this movie but also in JERRY MACGUIRE,AS GOOD AS IT GETS,INSTINCT,RADIO or AMERICAN GANGSTER.He should choose his movies more carefully that's all.I mean take Christopher Walken for instance:the guy is one of the greatest living actors, yet he has starred in many crappy movies.

reply

Christopher Walken was a firmly established dramatic actor before he ever took up his comedic outings of late. An actor that shows up Robert DeNiro in Deer Hunter should not be compared to an overacting hack like Cuba gooding who's most famous outing was upstaging Tom Cruise.
