Dude is just doing his job and she leaves him at his lowest point, but comes back to him once he passes the test? She says it was because he wanted to make something of himself rather than totally devote himself to her, but did she really just not want to sleep with a cripple?

shareThe stress on a wife of a military man is way more than what's on the surface. Some women can't handle it and just break. The time alone, the wondering if they will survive or instead leave them a widow and/or a single parent, the "uncivilized" culture and traditions, which sometimes includes them, sometimes against their better judgement, the secrets we bottle up for various reasons, the not always healthy ways WE cope with the work of being a military man, the inexplicable danger we seem to choose that's not needed, the "bullheadedness".
Those are just some that I can think of.
