it´s on my list for near next time, too. i´ll finish "the shield" before (but there are still 5 seasons left and i have to wait for no. 3...) and then i´ll watch it! sadly 4-6 is difficult for me, cause there´s no german spoken (or leastwise subtitled) version available at all - but better than nothing.

it´s still the best + greatest show for me... .

Hi m, thanks for the reply!
You know, I'm not an English native either but I've watched so many shows in English that I picked it up in no time, it's gotten easier for me to understand it...

I see that your English is very good, I don't understand, why do you find it difficult to watch in English?

reply

i´ve learned english in school until 37 years before and didn´t use it since then - until i shared imdb. and/but i have SUCH a crappy memory, that i mostly need dictionary and must look even for words which i´ve used hundreds times before here. there remained a stock from school and i find it even hard to "reactivate" word- knowledge i´d once had and then lost.
becoming old ain´t only funny... (((g)))

and that concerns WRITTEN language. spoken language is even much harder for me, i don´t know why (i also never could speak it good). it´s mostly enough for following the story - more or (often) less - but TW has such a fine humour and so much silly/kind/funny/loveworth tittles (does that word fit? there are others in dictionary, but they seem even more "false") which i sadly can´t get in the last 3 seasons and i miss it, how i know from 2 times watching in the past.

i´m always surprised when somebody "says" that my english is good - (((g))) i remember that i always had lots of "germanismus"- notes when composition tests at school were given back, cause i used to think in german and then translated word after word (my german IS good above average, indeed); and generelly i still do so, i think. AND i often have problems to decide, which of the offered translations in dictionary is the right one.
but thank you for that feed back. though you might want to cancle it after you´ve read this more complicating text (((((g)))))... .

you know, when I learned english in school, I wasn't any good, I was so so bad!!
but then I started watching Friends and I used english subtitles and that way I was able to read and listen to the words at the same time and it helped a lot.

At the end of those 10 seasons of Friends I was THINKING in english!
You should try this sometime, you'll see it works like magic!

Oh, and I still think your english is good, I understood what you wanted to say, and it's always good to start from somewhere!

good luck! :)
