Did This Show End Too Soon?

Do you think 3rd Watch should've ended sooner, didn't go long enough, or ended at just the right time? Discuss....

I think the 6 years it ran for was about right.

Look at how long NYPD Blue and ER were on. Third Watch was better than either of those and should have gone as long as those were on the air. None of the three are in re-runs on TV, but we are subjected to the numerous, boring versions of Law and Order every day.

Third Watch was deemed by TV Guide as one of the top shows in America that was cancelled too early. I agree.

It's quite amazing it ran as long as it did. NBC treated this fantastic show very poorly: time slot changes, not as many commercials and promotions as ER or West Wing, IMO, no promotion of the actors, many of whom deserved award nominations, etc.

I think Third Watch came along when NBC was being its decline. Unfortunately, the suits in important places couldn't keep NBC successful and this has continued for a number of years.

I agree! Some shows end way too soon because of this.

It didn't end just renamed "Chicago Fire"

reply

Nope, Chicago Fire is the rebirth of EMERGENCY!

I was okay with it ending where it did. However, I wish it would've stayed a firefighter/cop/EMT drama instead of becoming a cop drama with some EMT stuff thrown in, as seen in the last couple of seasons.
