Great News--Possible Battlestar Galactica feature.

I attended an August 22, 2003 screening of the BSG movie at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California, USA and in a panel afterwards, Glenn Larsen says he just got out of court and won the rights to produce a Battlestar Galactica feature! I guess he is serious about it. He says it won't be done at Universal, but did not say who would produce it.

By the way, Richard Hatch denies any knowledge of doing any pre-production on a BSG film. He says he has only showed clips of the "Magellan" series.

Maybe there is hope for BSG fans as there was for Star Trekkies.

There will be some stuff on and even a game will come out!

You can't get "The Second Coming" because it's a promotional trailer. Richard Hatch's company owns it and until the idea of a BSG movie is completely dead, he'll keep it under wraps.

I watched one episode of the new series of 'Battlestar Galactica', Galactica in name only (GINO as it's called), and I hated it. It's good to hear there may be a film though. However, since this is news of 2003, what are the chances of them going ahead, especially considering the 2003 series was popular, and it is now 2007?

I guess you'd rather have some crappy, campy, cheesy new version of the old series. The new one is better in every way: better writing, better story lines, better character development, etc, etc. Bottom line: the new BSG is classic sci-fi and the old BSG is just something that people laugh at, if they haven't forgotten about it already.

I think Hatch had better put the past to rest, if he hasn't already. He should think of Zarek as an opportunity for other big roles, not as a platform.

i don't think you can say that the new series is better than the old or vice versa.
They are different in many aspects, I am a fan of both. What I have come to perceive is that the new series is more of a drama with sci-fi thrown in. It definitely does more in character development and their personal stories while going along with the original plot lines.

The Zarek comics are very well written and from what ive heard from other people would make a great spinoff tv series in itself.

Let me try:

The new series is better than the old series. I can't think of one aspect of the old series I like better (or as much) as the new series. I was in high school during the late 70's, and saw the original in first run (and saw it in reruns years later), so I'm definitely not "remembering the old series wrong".

And no, I don't count the excrement that was Galactica 1980.

the old series had limitations and was reflective of the times but i (and a lot of people i've spoken with) really liked it. it was dark and had great music, back-story and design. there were a lot of good concepts with it.

unfortunately the characters were largely archetypes and not given a chance to develop.

then they found earth and wolfman jack. and i died a little that day.
