Were the stars flown in at the last minute?

First let me say that I do enjoy the movie and am proud to say so. That being said, there seems to be a disconnect between the secondary characters and the main characters. Keanu doesn't seem to be familiar with the dances or jokes and appears to not know how to react to certain situations. It looks as though some of his scenes (reactions) were shot separate from the original scene. The same is true of the scenes with Brooke in them. She doesn't appear to know any of the cheerleading routines. She just kind of wings it. It looks like the actors playing the secondary characters had worked together before the movie started shooting and then Keanu and Brooke were brought in at the last minute. Just asking.

In addition to what I said before, does anyone think the editing in the movie was horrible? It appears that the plot was changed after shooting. In many places, the scenes have no continuity.

i think thats part of the plot. The replacement team had little to no previous practice time and had to make plays on the fly. Likewise for annabelle and the cheerleaders.

I thought the editing was distracting and not at all organic. The cheerleaders were obviously shot at a different time and often the lighting didn't match other shots in the movie. The action on the field was OK but probably was impacted by the zoom in done to frame it for cable (shots were too tight). Tak *beep* is a fine shooter but may not have been involved in some of the second unit.

Compared to INVINCIBLE (which aired this morning), this was pretty much a crap fest editorially. On that one the director was also the director of photography and it showed. With THE REPLACEMENTS the different parts of the film assembly were obvious (field action, locker room, bar, etc.). Probably not a big deal for the intended audience and budget category. Let's just say I won't be looking for this on Blu-ray disc.

With higher priced stars, I am sure their schedule was as tight as possible to save on salaries. Good call.
