How is it? Is it better then the original PS1 version? Did they do the cutscenes digitally again like the Gamecube version rather then using a the Live-Action version featured in the original, or did they keep that? Did they add much?

Its real good. Its a straight up remake, with a first person knifing minigame (real fun) Multi player where you can play as the bravo team members, and all the puzzles are redisigned for the ds version
That sounds pretty sweet! Is it any harder/easier? Is the first person knifing you mentioned in the single player game?

Fps knifing is single player
Its exactly the same, Jill's campaign was normal and chris's is hard
theres a training mode, the game is untouched but when you get items that come in numbers like ammo and ink ribbon, the amount is doubled

YES, I purchased it (thanks again guys), and it has the lovably bad, cheesy, campy , original dialogue. And the original intro in all its live-action glory :) It's so great.
