Chris Redfield's smoking scene edit
Okay, maybe it was more a part of a scene. If they had to take that out, why did they leave Cid Highwind's victory pose in Final Fantasy VII?

If you watch the uncut intro, Chris acts like a total badass when he's lighting up his cigarette, and SCEA took that as glorification of tobacco. So it was cut and replaced with a dull video of him standing there staring at the camera like a serial killer and showing superimposed clips of him from the colored intro.
Poorly done, lame censorship if you ask me.

I've never got into Final Fantasy and other RPG's did Cid act like a badass when had the ciggarette in his mouth? I think it had to do with the way he was smoking the tobacco. If it was glorifying it would be cut, if it wasn't then it would be considered alright, and maybe a "Use of tobacco" would be put on the ESRB content list. I don't think they mind tobacco, just as long as it's not glorified.

Actually, Cid always has a cigarette in his mouth while on the battlefield. There's a special move (a Limit Break, I believe) where he even uses the cigarette to light a stick of dynamite and throw it at foes. He lights the cigarette with a lighter during his victory pose.
And Cid always acted like a badass, so yes, he did act like a badass when he had the cigarette in his mouth.
