Episode ratings ...

Seriously, the ratings of this show are messed up ... There are great episodes like "Through the Looking Glass" and "Out of Their Minds" rated a shocking 5.7 and mediocre episodes like "Bone to Be Wild" and "Picture If You Will" rated 8.5? And "PK Tech Girl", one of my favourite Farscape episodes and an episode I thought was well-loved by fans, is given a 5.2! How is this fair: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0578116/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt?

I'm kind of new to these boards (this is my first post), but I've been reading them for a while and there don't seem to be many trolls on the Farscape boards. I know I shouldn't put my trust in IMDb's ratings at all, but this is kind of ridiculous, especially for a show as adored as this one is ...

Wow, those ratings have changed a bit since I last saw them. I remember PK Tech Girl being a 6.4, which already felt low for a strong episode that I don't think anyone really disliked, but now it's plunged lower into the 5's, along with Scratch 'n Sniff (formerly 6.7), and They've Got a Secret and Terra Firma (which I think were at least in the mid 7 range). I also noticed the top rated episodes got higher ratings, like Durka Returns going from 8.6 to 8.9 and DNA Mad Scientist I think going from 8.2 to 8.7

Then I noticed something odd about the stats on the ratings.

Take almost any of the top ten or so highest rated episodes, and you'll notice quite higher ratings from the women than the men--even when male voters really like the episode, too. A Clockwork Nebari has a calculated 8.2 from men and a 9.4 from women, Bone to be Wild has 7.8 from men and 9.5 (!) from women, The Ugly Truth has 7.8 from men and 9.6 from women, it's a 7.8 from men vs. a 9.2 from women on Lava's a Many Splendored Thing, and a 7.7 vs. 9.6 for that Old Black Magic (which isn't even in the top ten), etc.

But if you go down to episodes rated lower than 7, a weird opposite effect starts to happen, and female voters get tougher on the episodes than the men. Bad Timing has 7.3 from men and 4.5 from women, Crichton Kicks has 6.9 from men and 4.8 from women, Won't Get Fooled Again has a 7.3 from men and a 3.1 from women, and PK Tech Girl has the disparity of 6.8 vs. 2.1 (meaning 70% of female voters gave it a 1)...what the hell?!

I was really thinking at first that these changes in ratings were the work of some sort of troll effort, but either that means that these are all very dedicated trolls who took up female accounts, or that maybe female Farscape fans just have quite different opinions than me.

Probably some sort of dedicated feminist troll group doing it then if it is all women taking it to the episodes. No other reason I can think of. Some feminist group probably went through the episodes and found anti-male themes to rate up and misogynistic themes to rate down. There is no other way they would be that far a part otherwise. Especially on the negative side.

IMDb houses A LOT of social cause nutters on here. Radical feminists seem to be one of the bigger ones around too if you see the kinds of comments you get on most boards with every movie ever made having someone in the movie being accused of misogyny.

Take my AIDS, please!
