Favorite Crichtonisms?

As in, pop culture references Crichton makes that he knows no one else will get. One of the most bizarre quirks of Farscape is that you can forget it's supposed to be in "our" universe while watching and just accept it as space fantasy like Star Wars, when suddenly Crichton will reference a cartoon/movie/song. It's actually a little poignant, since no one else gets it, but it's one way he can hold on to his culture.

Anyways, from Bone to be Wild:
"Looks like Swamp Thing here isn't the Mr. Rogers scientist we thought he was!"
Two references for the price of one.

Also, I love the running joke of classic comedy references like The Three Stooges and Mel Brooks (i.e., calling Natira "Frablooka", which even comes up again in season 3.).

You don't get to be the supermarket king of Minnesota without making a few enemies.

'When I get back, everyone, my Dad, DK, my sisters, Cameron Diaz, Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be dead.'

It might not have been his cleverest reference, but somehow him referencing Buffy just seemed particularly funny to me. Particularly in retrospect when you think how many times Buffy does die.

I do also like him calling head-Scorpius Harvey.

Dont you mean American pop culture? I am sure most of the world wont have any idea what he means by come get some USDA prime beef and slapping his ass.. Although filmed in Australia and using many aussie actors and even some british ones, they seem to stick to americans as the main audience.

Wasn't the quote "Grade A prime American beef" not "USDA prime beef?" I don't get what's not to get about that for non-Americans. He's American and he was saying his body was food to the creature chasing him. Hence, he is American beef. Anyone should be able to get that.

Well, they only had one Earthling character on the show, and he was an American.
Of course his cultural references are going to be American (or the imports that are relatively well-known in the US).

I think that somewhere in any episode that Johnny should've shown the others what a human weenie look like by showing his. Unfortunately, we never got the chance to see his weenie in the series. One major failure was in the Out Of Their Minds episodes when Rygel were in Johnny's body and needed to pee, per the instructions given on what/how to do, and the scene showed Rygel in Johnny's body taking out the weenie and holding it...but no weenie was actually shown. Johnny's weenie should've been shown clearly in that episode and should've shown the pee flow portion. We all really missed out on seeing Johnny's weenie. :-(

[in a high pitch squeaky voice] "Really, you fart helium?"

Not much of a chrichtonism but I crack up every time he bundles Rigel and himself in to that washing machine thing and then learns about his bodily gasses.

I can't remember the episode title, but it's the one where the one alien is "milking" people, for an aphrodisiac called freslin. Anyway, John has a great line when Pilot tells him his story doesn't make any sense, "She hit him with Love Potion No. 9! What doesn't make sense about that?!".

Another good one is when Moya crashlands on that planet with the primitive aliens, and John says something like, "Kinda looks like Louisiana...or Dagobah, for that matter".

I also liked the bit in the second episode, I think, where John likens Peacekeeper commandos to "Linebackers...or serial killers, depending on whether they're professional or amateur".
