So many irritating characters...

They just keep coming. I'm in season 4 and they've apparently picked up another one. The old woman who mutters to herself all the time.

Add her to:

Stark: The half-crazy guy with the mask who is pretty much just like the muttering old woman. Constantly panicking and overreacting to everything.

Zhaan: I'm not just a big fan of "mystical spiritual" characters. Her angst about losing her calm got on my nerves too.

Jool: The scream is enough to get on my nerves by itself. Every little thing causes her to scream...good lord. It melts metal...yeah yeah yeah...

I shed no tears when each of these characters went away. I noticed they keep replacing them with new irritating characters though. I fully expect them to replace the old lady with a new insane muttering character if she leaves.

Some who have been there the whole time get on my nerves sometimes too.

Rygel: His arrogant, self serving, farting, lazy character really gets on my nerves most of the time. He does occasionally redeem himself.

Ka D'Argo: Probably got his butt kicked more often than any other "mighty warrior" I've ever seen. Completely illogical and headstrong. ....So...they just voted him to be captain of the ship??? O...kay... Oh...and the makeup people went a bit overboard with him imo. He looks like they used every accessory they could find.

Oh...I'm in season 4 because I can't stop watching this show in spite of all this! The things I like about the show obviously outweigh it. The overall story is quite engaging actually.

Great....I go back and the next episode brings back Stark and Jool...great...

Plus it's one of those alternate reality episodes which is a lot of fun for the writers and the actors, but irritates me greatly. They are stuck in a video game? Really? Meanwhile there is a Scorpius plotline happening in the real world while the actors have a good time playing around.

When I first watched this show, all the puppets and costuming of Dargo and Zan were irksome to me. It felt like Muppets in Space! But after being encouraged to watch a few more episodes I found them easier to watch and believe. Rigel, how I loved to hate him! And Scorpius was too over the top as a bad guy--expecially that ridiculous costume of his.

reply

Yeah...everything about Scorpius is over the top...costume...name. Just silly....

...But I really like that character! Weird man. I was even hoping he and John would become friends in the end.

Just finished the series. Overall I like it enough to smile and feel good about it. It's got a strange charm about it.

Spoiler: Stark shows up in those last two episodes to mumble, panic, and irritate the crap out of everyone. Ugh...

While watching the final movie, I started wondering if some inspiration for Guardians of the Galaxy came from this show. The original GotG was formed in 1969...but the incarnation led by Peter Quill wasn't created until 2008.

I found ONLY 2 irritating characters - Sikozu and that old woman. This is it.

Zhaan is perfect! By far one of the greatest characters in a sci-fi series. The show lost its magic after she left.

Jool was beautiful and funny. Her scream didn't annoy me at all.

Stark was another cool character

Rygel's humor was another trophy of this series

It is far too much a kids show by a puppeteer and not enough science fiction

Oh, you mean like this scene? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHks0f1suKM#t=1m4s

I disagree with you on Stark. I love him. I find him hilarious. I love Zhaan too. I like that she is a pacifist that can kick ass when necessary.

And what about Moya? (Yes, the ship is clearly a character in this series.) An organic ship that gives birth? Sorry. Just not willing or able to wrap my brain around that one. Cloning, maybe. Birthing? Hardly. Really annoying.

Exotic premises such as a living ship giving birth is what sci fi fantasy is all about. Wrapping your head around strange concepts and bizarre happenings is the heart of the genre. complaining that a show that is a sci fi/fantasy hybrid is weird is kind of missing the point. Do you watch star wars and complain about the absurdity of the jedi' force powers? Maybe Law and Order is more your thing?
