some realism was needed in regard to the British.

they showed both types of British soldiers -- foppish genteel officers and cold-blooded killers. Isn't that balance?

Agreed. I live in OH and I loved how Colonel Tavington was able to sound evil when talking about my home state...
“Tell me about.... Ohio!”

The movie also needed to show that a sizeable number of colonists were FOR British rule, not just that one guy who was on the side of the King. I'd say it was half-and-half, to be honest.

Which is much more accurate, but this isn't a movie about historical accuracy, it's entertainment and those bloody British were so evil!

They basically made the British army more evil than the Nazi's and Stormtroopers combined!
