No she's just repaying the compliment. If you remember in the beginning of the movie when Benjamin takes the kids to her house, She says "they're huge, what have you been feeding them" to which he reply's "they're from good stock, on their mothers side of course".

Well, there is the thought that she is simply repaying the compliments given her by Benjamin Martin.

It was more than that. It was a full-out declaration of her love for him. She truly was lovesick without reservation. Martin had to be a bit more reserved in the society.
