You have to admit. With the exception of Susan (the youngest one that won't talk) they are all incredibly smart, quick-thinking and courageous.

Susan is made up to look very babyish in the early scenes and more like a pre-schooler later, but otherwise none of the kids visibly age.

Yea, and they have different casting people.

Sad that the littlest girl in this film died not too long ago. She was 21 I think.

Kids used to be raised to contribute to the family. They had to do more work than it cost to raise them.
