Did the US gain it's independence from England or Britain?
England or Britain, Britain or England?
shareEngland or Britain, Britain or England?
shareBoth
shareJust Britain. England still holds part of the USA, particularly the north eastern corner including Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Today it is known as New England
It wasnt me, it was the other three. Hang them!

Yea Alan Britain does not hold any part of new England. Or any other part of the usa.
To Boldly Go Where Phil Coulson Has Gone Before
Yes I know. It...was...a...joke.
It wasnt me, it was the other three. Hang them!
I prefer New England to Old England but I'd have to say I like British Columbia a lot better than regular Columbia.
There's a moral to this story Del Boy but for the life of me I can't find it!
York or New York?
shareAh you can't beat the New one. I love what they did with the place.

Jersey or New Jersey?
shareThis could go on a while lets not get started on New South Wales. One thing you have to say about the British, they weren't very creative with place names.
I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!
Sticking new in front of a name doesn't make it any more creative.
shareThat's what I meant.

To busy enslaving the world to worry about names.
At least with the British names they are pronounceable, unlike many native names that seem to be real tongue twisters.
At least with the British names they are pronounceableTo English speakers! What an ignorant and insular comment! So if it's not pronounceable to an English speaker it's not pronounceable at all?
Don't get your knickers in a twist, once everyone accepts that English is The language, all the place names will become Anglicised.
Thus making it easier for everyone to pronounce these names.
Simples!
Who says 'everyone' wants facile pronunciation? People with more than a neolithic comprehension of cultural diversity would disagree with you. Incidentally my knickers are just fine thank you, you're simply an ignorant Imperialist, a product of a decayed era.
Simples!

This era is any better?
shareChrist you are a real fedora tipper.
shareWell, you see jokes are supposed to be funny. Yours was just stupid.
shareIt gained independence from common sense more like.
shareWhat makes you think they won their independence. America, inc is a slave country owned by the The King and Queen. These fools actually believe they won their independence hahaha.
shareI would say from England.
shareWhy, are you Scottish, Welsh or Irish?
shareNo, I am not.
Altough it was a war between Britain (G.B.) and the colonist and in the Britisch Army were present Irish, Scottish, Welsh as well as Hessians, the main part of the Army consisted mostly, so I belive, of english soldiers, and all the military decisions as well the peace negotiation terms was taken in London.
Theoretical then from G.B., technically spoken from England.
Still British though. All Decisions may well come from England but then London (the capital of the UK and England) is in England, isn't it? That doesn't make it just England though, does it?
