they should have done one on the Korean War

it needs more attention.

So far the only show we got on the Korean War is M.A.S.H and even though it had its serious moments, it was mainly a comedy. The Korean War is basically the forgotten war, i can't even think of a single AAA Hollywood movie that takes place in the Korean War.

reply

hollywood has largely ignored it for some reason.

Well, there isn't a lot of culture from that age which aged well. With Vietnam you have so much music to include and the hippie movement, plus relevant movie references. And World War 2 & 1 are a major part of history.

reply

that is true - the war was not as culturally significant as ww2 or vietnam.

reply

Hard to make a compelling story when we fought 3 years for a standoff. But when you see how prosperous and advanced South Korea is compared to North Korea, you know it was worth it.

reply

Maybe do one on the air war in Korea. American pilots included future astronauts John Glenn and Neil Armstrong, and baseball legend Ted Williams, who Glenn called one of the best pilots he had ever seen.

reply

That sounds like an interesting idea. If you overtly tie Korean War history together with NASA history then you could certainly have an interesting film.

reply

not a bad idea at all.

The Bridges at Toko-Ri Starring William Holden was just such a movie. The U.S. Navy enthusiastically supported the film and helped give the movie exceptional air-battle scenes

Men in War
Pork Chop Hill
The Steel Helmet
The Bridges at Toko-Ri

Certainly not the broad coverage received by WW2, Viet Nam, or U.S. wars after 9/11 but these are some worthy Korean War flicks

reply

all good movies. i meant a tv series.

reply

Oh. Sorry about misunderstanding
