'Salute the rank, not the man'

I have the series on DVD and Bluray, and I seem to remember when watching the original airing that this line was in the Curahee episode, spoken from Sobel to Winters and again in the Points episode spoken from Winters to Sobel. On both the versions I own, I only hear it in the Points episode. Does anyone else remember hearing it in the Curahee episode? I seem to remember taking note of the irony. Am I remembering something that was never there?

"Am I remembering something that was never there?"

Essentially, yes. The line only appeared in "Points" (episode 10) and was never heard in "Currahee" (episode 1).

However, there's a moment in episode 1 where we actually see Winters demonstrating what he later puts into words. After the court martial process has begun (and the hostility between the two has reached its peak), Winters sees Sobel passing in a jeep and STILL salutes him; Sobel, having just been reassigned to Chilton Foliat, doesn't return it.

Maybe that's what you were thinking of.

I remember that scene. Guess maybe senility is striking early. Thanks for the reply.
