Rewatching this series after a couple years makes it clear

just what a sad, ridiculous piece of sh!t "The Pacific" was in comparison. You know every single man in this series, you feel it when they're taken, their absence in the rest of the series has impact. Can anyone say the same about any individual in The Pacific?

The pacific was good, but not as good as band of brothers. Iv only ever given out two 10/10 ratings for tv shows and this is one.

I feel the same way you feel about Band of Brothers, for example when Joe Toye and Bill Guarnere were hit during the German artillery barrage...I was freaking out, thinking they would be dead for sure.

But calling The Pacific ridiculous piece of sh!t is abit too much. I gave BoB a 10/10 without any doubt, The Pacific a 7.5/10. The way it was filmed, production value was great, but I felt no connection with none of the 'characters', with that it felt very empty.

You are right. The Pacific defiantly doesn't have the same impact as BOB did. Not sure why but for some reason I found it rather bland.

I feel exactly the same way. It is for this very reason I didn't like Saving Private Ryan actually. I felt nothing for the characters. Getting to know the guys in BoB made it seem so real.

Actually, The Pacific is a fantastic series like-wise. Each series just took a very different approach to telling the story.

The Pacific was more gruelling, brutal.. not that Band of Brothers wasn't brutal at times, but The Pacific was downright nasty, by the later combat episodes everyone and everything was just angry and devastated.

Meanwhile Band of Brothers is very Hollywood. It's great, but it's very very Hollywood. For a brutally realistic war combat drama, it's surprisingly uplifting and feel good. Mega feeling of camaraderie, very much an ensemble piece loaded with lovable characters.

If you watch The Pacific and expect it to be like Band of Brothers, can't accept that it while handling similar subject matter in a similar format it is actually strikingly different, then the problem is your own.

I mean for me.. to pick the top five episodes of both Band of Brothers and The Pacific.. three of them would be from The Pacific. The Okinawa, Peleliu, Iwo Jima episodes. Incredible. So the rest of The Pacific somewhat pales, but those three were phenomenal.

BOB was good, but The Pacific is brilliant,8,3 at IMDB is a joke,in terms of production value this miniseries is better than any war movie ever made.
