Actually, The Pacific is a fantastic series like-wise. Each series just took a very different approach to telling the story.
The Pacific was more gruelling, brutal.. not that Band of Brothers wasn't brutal at times, but The Pacific was downright nasty, by the later combat episodes everyone and everything was just angry and devastated.
Meanwhile Band of Brothers is very Hollywood. It's great, but it's very very Hollywood. For a brutally realistic war combat drama, it's surprisingly uplifting and feel good. Mega feeling of camaraderie, very much an ensemble piece loaded with lovable characters.
If you watch The Pacific and expect it to be like Band of Brothers, can't accept that it while handling similar subject matter in a similar format it is actually strikingly different, then the problem is your own.
I mean for me.. to pick the top five episodes of both Band of Brothers and The Pacific.. three of them would be from The Pacific. The Okinawa, Peleliu, Iwo Jima episodes. Incredible. So the rest of The Pacific somewhat pales, but those three were phenomenal.
