Guarnere returns in Episode 5 "Crossroads" and talks about being AWOL.
In Episode 4 he got injured, but I didn't see it happening. When did he get injured? Was it shown? It's not that important, but stuff like this drives me nuts: did I miss something? Why don't I remember?
So does anybody know anything? Is it possible that him getting injured wasn't specifically shown? After all he was just limping after the fight in Episode 4.
Guarnere's injury took place AFTER episode 4; it would have occurred soon after the Crossroads fight in episode 5. All the viewer is shown is the scene where Guarnere limps into Winters' office to deliver a letter from Moose; after that, he tells Winters he's gone AWOL from a hospital. When he leaves, Winters gives him a warning: "No more joyriding." And that's basically all the episode tells you regarding Guarnere's injury.
So no, it's not like you missed a scene that explained what happened.
In real life the accident took place after Guarnere stole a motorcycle from a Dutchman; he needed to get someplace in a hurry, so he didn't bother finding the owner & asking if he could borrow it. Anyway, he was riding across an open field, when - BLAM! - he got shot by a German sniper. He fractured his right tibia and was sent to a hospital, where he found himself in a leg cast that went from his thigh to his foot. He tried to go AWOL, but he was caught & sent back. About a week later he was released and rejoined Easy.
It's possible Guranere's escapade was filmed and landed on the cutting room floor; there were many scenes that were cut for running time, and his motorcycle misadventure may have been one of them.

Actually, the Bastogne sequences (involving the German advance) were cut back and simplified even before filming began; each episode had been budgeted at around $12 million, and there simply wasn't enough money to recreate the assault on the scale they'd envisioned.
Among the scenes that were filmed and later discarded, they included at least two from episode 1 ("Currahee") -
1. Easy Company's "jump wings" party sequence contained moments when company members performed on a makeshift stage; these were cut.
2. Also removed was a sequence that depicted Colonel Sink's "drumming out ceremony," in which paratroopers who'd returned late from furloughs were expelled from the 506 in a very public (and, to Winters, humiliating) way.

3. A brief scene showed a thoroughly exhausted Damian Lewis (as Winters) collapsing on a log and resting for a few moments; this was deleted at the request of Dick Winters himself, who said under no circumstances would he have allowed himself the luxury of a break on D-Day.

4. End-of-war celebrations in Berchtesgaden were also trimmed back; these included scenes showing paratroopers carousing in the streets and dressing up in German uniforms they'd discovered in town & at the Eagle's Nest.
I'm sure other scenes were cut for running time; these are just some of the ones I'm aware of (production photos showing deleted moments from the "jump wings" party and the Berchtesgaden victory celebration still surface on the internet).

All you said is wrong. Where did you get that accident story? There's a scene showing how Guarnere lost his leg in Bastogne. It was a bomb that hit him and Toye at the same time.
