My grandpa was a member of the original 101st - what company?

We have a picture of him at Bastogne. My older brother especially looked up to him as a role model, but we don't know what company he was a part of. I've looked for a while but I can't find any way to figure it out. Does anyone know of a website that might have a full roster of every solider in each company during WW II? I'd love to be able to tell my brother.

My dad was a WWII vet and I wanted his military records, so I sent away for them. Really neat to have all that information about his service. You can request them here:

Thank you so much!! And thank you to your family for his service :)

What a great picture to have. My grandfather fought in WWII but I have nothing to show my children. He had a very common name and although I know his birthday don't know the year he was born or where! My father has also passed away and although I know a lot about my father's national service never got around to asking about his father. It's really only after watching Band of Brothers recently that I have realised what I - and now my children- have missed out on, a huge part of my family's history.

his name and birthdate would probably be enough - they have research staff, the information stored in databases.

the problem with many vets, my father included, was that there was a fire in the st. louis records center about 45 or so years ago, so some records were destroyed. the records center is in north st. louis, they have a walk-in facility. i've used it myself.

Start surfing the net ellanegri. I found stuff about my Mom a WW2 vet and my Dad a B 24 pilot/POW in Stalag Luft 1 in Barth Germany. Good luck.

if his records survived the fire at the st louis records center, you can visit there, if you live near st. louis.

Very cool. Let us know what you find out.
