Crowe was good, but he got Mr Douglas Oscar

If memory serves me correctly I don't think MD was even nominated for this film, which is crazy, I thought he was great. Robert Downey also should have been nominated for his performance. But I did enjoy Gladiator one of my favorites and I also thought RC was awesome in it, but in my opinion MD should have one that year, and this movie should have gotten more attention. Still the biggest screw job ever at the Oscars is Val Kilmer not even being nominated for Tombstone.

clearmind, why would your memory need to serve you when the IMDb page tells you all award nominations. In "Wonder Boys" we undoubtly see Douglas' best work, he left a much deeper imprint on me than his ott uber-juppie in "Wall Street". Unfortunately for MD, Crowe's the kind of actor who doesn't even have to deliver his best work to deserve the Oscar. He's a much better actor than Mr. Douglas. If my IMDb page serves me correctly (wink), he didn't win for "The Insider", which he should have (an easy pick for me). As long as we're on the subject of Oscar crimes, that one I felt was much much bigger.

Oh, and I haven't seen "Tombstone", I suspect his impressive acting in that 1993 film got him a role in Michael Mann's action epos "Heat" (I've always searched for an explanation and maybe I came upon it now, thank you for that).
