I like Adhemar, so while I wanted him to lose (since he is the bad guy) I don't like how it was handled. I don't like him trying to cheat. The guy was arrogant enough to think Will could never beat him. It just added silly drama. Did anyone think William was going to lose? Going to die because he's an idiot jousting without armor? The only part of the end I like is Geoffrey giving a speech to stall time and going on Edwards chair to do so. Then Edwards reaction like "I know this guy is stalling for time for William, but I like Will, so it amuses me." Also, who else but Geoffrey would have the balls to stand on the crowned prince's chair?
I really enjoy everything else in this movie, but the ending just got weird and annoying. Besides, what kind of victory is it to win against a guy who was daydreaming during the joust, against a guy knew he'd lose (did he suddenly realize he was the bad guy in a story or what?)? Adhemar might as well have thrown himself off his own horse.
