That scene... (spoilers)
So in the evolution scene where the alien shows how Mars was hit by an asteroid and decimated transforming Mars hundreds of millions of years ago and then one ship containing the cells (DNA/nucleotides) of the alien is delivered to Earth's oceans where over hundreds of millions of years, life emerged and evolved and sea creatures evolved to live on land and continued to evolve till it finally shows wooly mammoths and elephants and humans!
While the scene is amazing and for some ridiculous reason removed in many TV broadcasts in early 2000s on TV and considered a classic there is one puzzling thing -
So if the Mars alien seeded life on Earth 100s of millions of years ago and then they all left except that one advanced hologram/something corporeal advanced AI or whatever it was how did the scene show what happened on Earth 100s of millions of years after they left? How did it know about the evolution of the life on Earth and showed humans from what appears to be 20,000 or so years ago but then not modern man/civilization/technology?
So this means the advanced Martian hologram/whatever was monitoring Earth clearly for 100s of millions of years. So doesn't this mean it would have also known about modern humans and rockets and technology and known about the spaceships approaching Mars and obtain all the TV/satellite comms and decode it?
That means they'd know these people on Mars are humans and since their tech could interface with Mars since they were able to send the signal to the Martian face, it means the Martian AI should've also been able to intercept and understand all the human signals.
Then what was the need for the test that killed the people needlessly? It should never have done that because it could have scanned the DNA/nucleotides for the humans so it would know it has the same genetic base as the Martian.
I found that to be a plot hole type issue. It's obviously not the real Martian that lived that because that was 100s of millions of years ago and only AI/program or robotic thing could survive that long on Mars without issue.
Also, it prepared the chamber for 1 human to be in the Mars ship as it blast off to Andromeda most likely as that is the closest neighbor galaxy at 4.2mn light years from Earth in our local group of galaxies. So it clearly knows human physiology as well.
Hence I felt that part negates the point of the movie with the test and the needless deaths.
