I have just finished watching this movie for at least the 10th time and I still consider it to be a great movie. Not because of the acting and direction, but because of the meaning of it. One user review thought it was a remake of 2001 by Kubrick, but I don't see that. I am surprised at the rating of 5.5. I am a true sci-fi fan but if there are any flaws in this movie I guess I overlooked them due to the true nature of this film. I gave it a 9

I agree, same impression here and I can't really understand the low rating.
This and The Martian from last year are the best movies about Mars so far.
There is even a real astronaut in the cast, Story Musgrave (plays one guy in mission control). I've seen some interviews with him, which were great.

Love this movie. Strong acting, storyline and the ending was unusual. I strongly recommend it.
