These had to be the dumbest cops to ever wear a badge!

Completely no knowledge that a criminal was right amongst them.

The only wised up at the end!

When the chief covered gor him when the FBI was grilling his ass, and when Hardcastle and Carlson let him cross the border.

You can obvioulsy see they did that because he saved their lives during the bust.

He pulled Carlson out of the line of gunfire and kept telling Hardcastle to fall back when he was trying to ram the truck off the road.

But before they knew these guys had to be the dumbest cops walking. I mean as large a law enforcement agency as the LAPD is in reality, I'm sure no one can just walk in their and pretend to be a detective!

i don't think it was supposed to be a realistic movie.

The op makes it seem like Martin just walked in the station and said "I'm a cop" with no convincing proof. He had a badge that appeared to be legit, he a had a huge file that had his background information(even if it wasn't true).

I agree, Once they found out that West Covina never heard of him, they would have probably guessed he wasn't really a cop. But like they said, it's a movie and Martin was only using the badge for short term purposes, he just needed it to get in the station get the diamond and get out.

you'd be surprised...cops aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer

Come on: believability of "plot" doesn't really factor into a film like this. Are we having a good time watching the ridiculous, impossible, off-the-wall stuff, or aren't we? If not, it's a bad film. If so, who cares whether or not Logan could "really pull it off"? Really? I don't believe anyone, in real life, would say half the lines that were said in this movie. I don't think higher-ranking police officers would grin with approval as the "new guy" risked the department's ass by beating the hell out of a suspect in front of the latter's attorney. I don't think a diamond worth millions of dollars would look like the candy-part of a ring-pop. I don't care much about these things, either.

omfg r u serious, its a friggin comedy movie, a piece of fiction u douchebag...

Yeah...

I agree with those who say taking this movie too seriously is kinda missing the point. On the other hand Luke Wilson's character is so beyond slow and naive there's no way he'd make it through the police academy, let alone get a job with the LAPD. I mean he's just really slow.

You make it sound like the LAPD is a really exclusive group...haha it's not hard at all to become an LAPD officer. LAPD are a huge joke actually. They have more complaints filed against them than any department and more corrupt cops too. I would be surprised if someone told me the LAPD required a high school diploma.

reply

how do you know they get so many complaints and are corrupt?

reply

please tell me this is a joke

reply

i agree yea its suppose to be entertainment but there are limits and nobody is stupid enough to keep believing he was a cop
