Philip Seymour Hoffman?

Anyone but me that tought that they saw Philip Seymour Hoffman in this movie?

I have a 2disc VCD-version and a guy looking like him shows up editing sound or something at approx. 42:40 into the second disc.

It's approx. 10 seconds after the scene in the garden when the kids say they don't want to work with movies when they grow up.

Is it him, or a lookalike or am I just stupid?

yes i am sure that it was him. funny that Philip Seymour Hoffman accidentally popped into this film. i wonder what he was doing there or working on at the time. maybe try the imdb-Philip Seymour Hoffman page too. interesting

Philips imdb-page says nothing about American Movie. . Hmm.

And how in the world would he know the American Movie guys? When the scene is shot I guess Philip is already a shooting star in hollywood and would at least have been namedropped once in the movie if it really was him.

But it looks SOOOO much like him! Is there anybody that knows for sure?

A short, chubby guy with reddish, blond hair in northern Wisconsin???

C'mon, who else could it have been but Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

You piqued my curiosity with this post, so I looked for that scene on my DVD. I've gotta commend your astute observational skills for even noticing this shot. He's on screen for all of 1.5 seconds, and it's not even a close-up! Good eye, man.

I agree he somewhat resembled Hoffman, but I think it's safe to assume it wasn't him. I think they would have mentioned his involvement in the commentary, and as someone has already stated, blonde chubby guys ain't exactly a scarcity on this planet.
