So who else really enjoyed this?

I love this movie and think it is quite underrated. The plot, costumes and acting are all brilliant! Anyone agree with me?

i think it's brilliant.

the stories were always great.
people have made movies about each story individually in the past........
eg. ali baba, aladdin, genie etc
but they forgot that the real story was about the sultan and sultana sherzade, telling the stories.

so this movie wrapped it all up in a nutshell.
i luv how it's telling a story, in a story, in a story.lol.

but anyways, was really nicely made, special effects were great, the visual stuff was amazing.....like i find very few movies "beautiful" to watch.....but this movie is great....cinematography is stunning.

john liguizamo(dont hassle me about the spelling)......was funny as hell.
the actor who played the sultan (although had a british accent) was good.
i found the actress playing sultana sherzade, real beautiful.
the evil brother was a funny guy too :)

overall a great movie for kids and adults

This is one of my favorite films! Most of the actors are fantastic, the special effects are really well done (for the most part), and the cinematography is beautiful. And I loved that they used Scheherezade as the story teller, and had her and Schariar's tale woven throughout the film. This is the first film I've seen that showed their tale, and their story is the most interesting in my opinion. My second favorite tale (which is edited out of the VHS version, by the way) is the one about the jest gone wrong; where Schariar is the beggar and his brother the sultan.

I loved the movie so much! I can't get bored from watching it over and over again...
however,I must say that Scheherezade's story about the Caliph Abrashid is totally wrong...
While it is known that Caliph Abrashid was used to roam the streets of the city in disguise...he wasn't irresposible person and he died at old age not young.
Plus, Caliph Amin was his own son...
and Abrashid was the most famous Caliph in islamic history...
and the major mistake was that they were in cairo...Caliph Abrashid ruled the islamic world from Baghdad not cairo....
anyway, it was a nice story and the moral behind it is great.

It was great storytelling. It was exciting, funny, mysterious, adventurous, and not cheesy. I loved the whole story and the stories in between.

I definitely agree. I watched the whole thing on SciFi last night and I adored it. The special effects were awesome, the way it was filmed, and I agree, the costumes were great too. :D

I also am in agreement with everyone...I caught Part II last evening...and was enchanted with it...I look forward to it being rebroadcast and so I may be able to watch it entirely...
Skeptical at first...don't usually go for all those "costume" glitzy type movies..sometimes I find them a distraction...but I was amazingly surprised...
The acting was first class...enjoyed the modern day humour, so cleverly intermingled...beautifully done...impressed with John Leguizamo, in the dual role(s) of genie...he was excellent & very funny indeed...and of course, one of my favorites, Dougray Scott, he was superb...Enjoyed it very much.

I was totally surprised. We'd TiVo'd this when it aired, and only got around to watching it yesterday evening, but we were thrilled from start to finish.

I immediately thought of seeking the DVD.

Me, I am trying to buy my own copy.

L:ast time i watch a film like this was On sam neil's MERLIN, i thought nothing can top that...BOY! was i wrong
I got the shocked, i thought she looks familiar, from Anatomy Of Hell , yes yes im talking about AMIRA, almost a bellucci-like, oops! maybe ive gone too far there
She's excellent though, im amazed how she can speak fluent english, then theres french
Douglass scott was magnificent, acting like this will be remembered, not scared to take risk. I must admit, genie himself (i forgot his name) also did a beautiful job. And last but not least, a long awaited for me, coz i fell in luv with her on Stargate Mili Avital, you cant hardly see her in any good movie, but BOY! does she have what it takes. She's not that great lookers like Bellucci or Lindsay, but she certainly got that animal magnitism.

Great movie, cast and stories. 10/10 to me.

I remember seeing this when it first came out in 2000. It's simply fantastic, great characters, great stories. Alan Bates, John Lequizamo and Dougray Scott ruled this film in my opinion. Same goes for Rufus Sewell the actress that played Scherazade. Great film, truly underrated.
