I really didn't see it coming, what happened in the end. Who'd a thought that the short cool kid would die. Did anyone see it happening?

Wasn't it Ernest Hemingway that wrote "All true stories end in death?" Seems appropriate here, too, as the movie was based on a true story.
i kinda expected it. I knew there was going to be some big surprise at the end.
