It needed to show the championship game...

Did anyone else feel ripped off by the fact that the whole film focuses on the team making it to the championship game aka "the ship" and then you never get to see the championship game take place? The movie built it up nicely, especially with the tribute to G-Baby saying they were going to plan/win for him. Then as the team begins to take the field, we get a fade to black, and the film comes back with pics of what happened after the game. I think they could have taken another ten minutes to let us see the game happen.

Anyone else agree?

Yes and no. The lead up to it left us wanting more but also kept the sad sentiment of G baby dying and as we think the movie is over we get to see the end result which then give u that final up lifting feeling, suddenly rather than a build up to the inevitable.

I live to watch YOU die....

There was no need to show the championship. First off, was there ever any doubt on who would win the game? Also, yes you're right, the movie built up going to the champion(ship) however, once G-Baby died, it wasn't about that anymore. Winning the championship suddenly became far less important. It became more about honor and togetherness. I like the transition to the trophy pics.

I think showing the championship game would have ruined all of the pacing from G-Baby's death to Kofi putting G-Baby's number on Connor's arm. All of the main characters from the kids to the coach have completed their journeys and the game would have taken us away from that bittersweet ending.
