Gladiator at the Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall in London is showing Gladiator from May 24th to 28th, accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra. Pleased to see that it's pretty much sold out. Anyone going?

Totally agree! I hesitated for a second when I saw the prices but then thought that this won't happen again, so we should go for it! Glad you're going, it will be great to hear what you think of it. I'm taking my daughter.....she's 17 & hasn't seen it before.

We live in East London, so it's an easy journey for us. We're going on the Wednesday, as there was a better choice of seats left. Please do post your thoughts on it when you've been. Enjoy yourselves!

Wow! It was absolutely fantastic! I really hadn't appreciated how good the score of this film is but it just completely blew me away. Lisa Gerrard, who co-wrote the music and played & sang on the original soundtrack, sang the solo parts & played a very unusual instrument. I thought that it was a dulcimer but apparently it originated from Hong Kong. Her voice was beautiful & haunting and made the scene where Maximus discovers his murdered wife & son, even more poignant.

There was a great atmosphere at the RAH, the place was packed and really buzzing with excitement. First time I've ever seen touts outside!

All in all a great & memorable experience.

My wife and I were lucky enough to be there last night as well. I say 'lucky' as it was truly brilliant. Brought tears to our eyes. This hybrid of movie and live orchestra is a great idea and I will certainly look out for more of these in the future. I think Titanic and The Godfather have been confirmed as well.

sorry Blueeyes I meant to post sooner but my daughter has had the chicken pox anyway -

I completely concur. My hubby and I were in tears pretty much throughout (we are criers haha)... To be honest I was a bit worried because I do watch this film a LOT so I thought that maybe it couldnt get any better. I could and did. just stunning. I hope they do something like this with other epic films...id totally go again.

Do the *beep* snow angel, Dude!, Do the *beep* snow angel!

reply

Great that you both enjoyed it so much! My daughter & I were both grinning like fools for ages afterward

Sorry to hear that your little one has been poorly, hope she's on the mend now
