maximus needed more victories in the coliseum

Maximus needed more victories in the coliseum, at least 1 more to have gained so much favor w the crowd. He won, what, 1 or 2 battles? No gladiator gets that famous that fast. I loved the movie hell I named my pitbull after maximus, but I feel he needed some more victories to get so popular
