Who else would you have cast as Susanna?

I personally enjoyed Winona Ryder in the lead role, but I just noticed she has a lot of complaints from the users on these boards. So if it was up to you, who would you choose to replace her as Susanna? At the top of my head... Neve Campbell? Christina Ricci? Hilary Swank? Michelle Williams? Natalie Portman? Anna Paquin?

Maybe Kate Winslet? She's good at everything.

Winona was perfect. Jolie had a flasher part so some believe she outshined. Both were perfect IMO.

I think any of the female actors of the time who was good at portraying young-ish, ingenue-ish but troubled/with depth sort of character would have done...the ones you listed all seem to fit the bill.
