Anyone else think that Farrell was a Christ-like character?

Old one.
Support your troops!

I'll second that

"Yes support your troop to murder innocent people. Better yet, support your government to attack weak ass countires and do nothing about countries that are a threat."
Noone supports troops in murdering innocent people. We (Americans) support troops in hopes that by killing the enemy they may save the lives of the innocent. We support them in what they do because they have families and we want them to be able to come home once their work is done. We are thankful to have men and women who will fight to defend freedom. Don't be an ignorant dick by saying some stupid *beep* like this, open your eyes.

Seconded.
Although the US Army's / Marine Corps' gungho tactics could do with a bit of a looking at. Maybe ease up on the trigger finger and think before shooting? The troops aren't to blame, they are doing what they are trained to do, the senior command and training regime are responsible for the actions of the men.
so, how do feel about the Jesus/Colin Farrell comparison?

Speaking as one of those senior commanders, a veteran of twelve years and someone who went from the enlisted to NCO to officer ranks, While you're drinking your f@@ing morning latte enema and figuring out who to *beep* next at your office, Brave friends of mine and I are leading troops over here. And nobody in my unit or any of my men have been invesitgated or charged for "lack of trigger control" you f@@king douchebag. Not everyone who goes to war is in love with the idea of death. Why don't you do some research instead of (poorly) plagiarizing John Kerry? And what has this got to do with the movie?
"We're Paratroopers, Lieutenant, we're SUPPOSED to be surrounded" -- Band of Brothers
I think Signalcib me ole beauty what the poster commenting about soldiers said is more aimed at the political motivations for sending troops to another country.
Now I personally have met several american servicemen over the years (Most of them Navy due to where I used to work) and I found them to be decent dudes with a penchant for severe tipping.
BUT
I have utter contempt, disgust, hate, anger and outright laughter for your Commander in Chief and his enter f ucking staff.
Your country got bombed by an Afghani...so you invaded IRAQ because your aforementioned commander in chief wanted to finish the work Daddy began after Reagan had armed Saddam (Bush Snr only armed Kuwait).
SO! Before you go waxing lyrical about 'honour, strength' and all that sycophantic bull they shove down your throughts in school when you have to salute a f ucking flag every day...remember! It aint about honour, strength and freedom...it's about OIL or blowing the crap out of a nation of brown/yellow people who's government has different ideas to your own.
I have the utmost respect for the work you people do...but not when the motivations and reasoning are so paper thin and fuelled by greed.

You doth protest too much.
shareYeah and don't be an ignorant dick by believing everything you're told and read about in the media. How about do some research on your own? By the way, who armed the countries the U.S.A is supposedly saving now?

You're what's known as an apologist.
It's not a compliment.

The original poster is an idiot for comparing Colin's character to Jesus. Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior and no human being can compare to him.
shareJesus was a compassionate rebel against the Romans and the old-guard Jews, and for the common man. Boz is a compassionate rebel against military authority, and for the down trodden ill-prepared draftee. The comparison is valid, but I do not know if it is right for us to call every rebel "Christ-like".
sharePerhaps not, but he does offer hope and isn't that what christianity embraces? so the poster who refers to me can kiss my ass. I said he was christ-like not christ himself.

Fair enough. PErsonally, I do like to think of Jesus as being somebody who:
1) Offered hope
2) Cared for the average "sinner"(for lack of..)
3) Heart of Gold, but not everyone understood
4) Would woop your a$$(metaphorically) if your own hear was not pure.
The last one is important. I think it is pretty clear Boz had a heart of Gold, but if your own heart is not right(like Wilson's) he will make put you in a world of misery.
The only connection Boz and Christ had is that they are both fictional characters
