Uh, just curious, have you read all the threads already in place on this movie's discussion board? And all the "user reviews"? All those contain our thoughts already in various forms. So then you might have specific questions.

I think it's one of the greatest movies of all time, with brilliant, writing, directing, character, acting and overall message in spades.

Undoubtedly, one of the worst movies ever made.

Very well done movie. Great cast, amazing acting, interesting characters and dynamics between them. But is a deeply overrated movie. There's no story to it. Just a series of bizarre coincidences forming a snowball that splashes in the end. Is actually kinda shallow. But then again, maybe that's exactly the intention. Still, is overrated.

Without a doubt one of the best movies ever made. The writing is unbelievable, every scene has substance and a meaning. The acting is superb and the directing is at the top of the game. Really similar to Six Feet Under (same writer). It's so rare to see such a masterpiece. I wish Alan Ball would make more movies.

This movie is a particularly awesome piece of work. It is well written, well casted, and very believable. It is a profound statement regarding what modern American capitalistic culture can do to seemingly ordinary upper middle class people who have the ideal "American Dream", yet are falling apart at the seams because of it.

I thought it was perhaps one of the top 20 scripts of all time, and beautifully acted, but I didn't care for the direction. I know it was Sam Mendes' first film, and to me it definitely felt like a first film. By this I mean the overuse of things like the motif of 3x repetition in daydream shots, the camera not being far enough back in the wide shots, etc. I'd be very surprised if they used a real house instead of sets, but in most of the indoor scenes of the Burnham house could've fooled me since it looked like the camera kept backing up into walls and furniture. I'd still give it 9/10, the directing being amateurish, but not distracting.
