You call it DEPRESSING? You don't know what DEPRESSING is!

Finally saw this film... And boy, was I surprised!

I was expecting it to be extremely depressing... to be an ultimate tearjerker... to be an incredibly painful experience... And it was nothing like that!

It was surprisingly easy to watch! It does not induce so much fear and despair as BREAKING THE WAVES for example. And it contains so much lambent dark humour to make things look less painful - that this movie becomes a brilliant tragicomedy.

There is much LIGHT and JOY and HOPE in it... Even though it's tragic as hell. And it is pretty optimistic actually! Look at the text appearing during the final scene for example. Life goes on.

Those people who call this movie unbearably depressing - they obviously don't know what depressing movies look like. Try watching POLA X (1999) if you wanna know what DEPRESSING really is.

'Stupid f...ing white man!'

DEAD MAN (1995)

While I agree it wasn't as sad as most are making it out to be, I did tear up a little and the court room scene was kind of hard to watch.

I'll give the movies you listed a try though.

it wasn't sad at all, i didn't care for the characters, but it was boring to hell, melancholia is more boring, not sad at all.

that some people actually praise this nonsense.

Is Pola X as bad?

reply

I wouldn't call it unbearably depressing, but I found it a bit sad.
