I didn't know it was a book so I think I'll check it out. I just saw the movie for the first time on the Hallmark Channel & I kind of liked it but was sort of disappointed, too. It was just a little too cheesy & fake for my taste. Yes, I know it's a Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel & cheesy & fake are kind of synonymous with the movies on that channel, lol, but it was too much even for my sentimental & mushy old heart. I'm sure the book goes into much better detail about the transformation of Ian from precocious college boy to religious furniture maker, etc. I just found it unbelievable that he would give up college to become a furniture maker & become all uber-religious after wandering into that non-denominational church. I guess it's because I don't believe people can truly change like that. I've never seen it in real life & the people who claim to have changed like that are usually exposed to be major phonies. I know God has the power to change someone's heart, I just don't think it happens like it did in the movie.
