Ridley Scott??
I haven't seen this film, but I see that someone plays Ridley Scott. Is it...THE Ridley Scott??? What's his connection with the Gates/Jobs story?

shareYes. He directed the famous 80s Apple superbowl commerical that spoofs "1984". The opening of POSV shows the commercial being filmed.
shareYou mean this one?

p.s.: What is a superbowl commercial?
Yes thats the one.
Superbowl commercials are special commercials created to be shown during the superbowl football game. The budgets for them in 1985 weren't as big as they are now but Ridley Scott has done a couple of cool ones. He did a really cool one for the Nissan 300ax Twin Turbo too.
And, isn't it kind of ironic that Apple had that commercial made, yet now they are the company that takes apps off their app store just because? Kind of 1984-like to me.
What do you mean?
shareThe 1984 commercial was about Apple overtaking IBM in the PC business. End of discussion.
shareYeah, ok, but I didn't understand THIS part:
"And, isn't it kind of ironic that Apple had that commercial made, yet now they are the company that takes apps off their app store just because?"
Have you read 1984 by Orwell? Or Animal Farm?
The connection is that in 1984 when Apple had this commercial made, Apple was the underdog to IBM. IBM was seen as the domineering giant that controlled everything.
Yet today, Apple is now that same domineering giant that they themselves made light of 27 years ago.
Oh,ok,thanks, now I got it. Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the computer bussiness, and who was underdog of whom, etc.
And I haven't read "1984" and "Animal Farm", but I have seen the films, so yes, I know what they're about.
Kids these days... ;-)
You should read the books. The movies don't do them justice.

I would say his portrayal is pretty accurate too.

Wow, thanks!

Yeah, except they aren't the domineering giant today either. Apple's market share is pretty small overall for the people that do have Apple products, they do indeed act like "Big Brother." All you have to do is look at the Apple Watch icon they put on all their iPhones and stuff without even asking the user if they wanted it. The users can't even delete it if they wanted.
shareDumb ass! Read 1984 then after read the commercial for 1984. Only then will you understand!
