This and the song cleaning out my closet by Eminem made me aware. Personally Ive never seen it happen in the real world. But can understand that it would happen. A lot of mentally ill folks out there. Don't mean to sound sexist and I've never actually looked up stats, but i think it's a mainly female dominated disease.
shareActually have been a few cases very public and that is part of this mental illness the person search for public recognition, one of the most notorious case was Dee Dee Blanchard the tv series the act is based on her story, I have not watched the show I saw some pictures of her daughter obviously she scrub the poor girl really badly this story is a little too F**up for my taste
Another case was the mother of two kids I don't remember very well I think the kids have a mental disease very uncommon in children's she has a Youtube channel where she exposes her children's constantly, she was a guess in Doctor Phill and he asked her to stop the channel to help her and she refuses, long story short, there were doubts if the children's were really that sick or was just product of the medication, the law intervenes they took her children's and they are fine now
As another has stated, Munchausen by Proxy has been around for a long time. The phrase itself was coined in the mid 1970's almost twenty years before the movie came out.
