Naomi Watts/Penelope Ann Miller

I came across a 2001 review where they called Naomi Watts "a wholesome Penelope Ann Miller type." I guess at the time, Penelope had this image of a femme fatale or something. However, in interviews, especially in the last decade, she seems like a total sweetheart. She turned into the wholesome Naomi Watts.

That's an inaccurate and even somewhat condescending way to describe both Naomi and Penelope. What's ironic is that subsequent film outings by Naomi after this movie had her doing way more risque and hard edge roles than Penelope ever got.

It sounds like they thought Watts was more of a wholesome type, not so much a that Miller was some femme fatale. That's how I read it, anyway. Miller always seemed to play these good natured, nice types.
