Great Screenplay Would Make An Awesome Novel

After watching "Interstate 60: Episodes Of The Road", I thought it was surely based on some post-modern, magic realist "literary" novel. The screenplay by Bob Gale was terrific. I'd still like to see this turned into a novel. The various characters seem to be straight out of a novel, the magic realism portions (bizarre towns, magic smoking pipes, magic 8 balls, etc)are also suitable to a novel as well as the existential/philosophical aspects. Who else agrees ?

Nobody, Bob. Nobody.

I thought that this film was so much like Tom Robbins' book style.
It's a better film than the adaptation of his 'Even Cowgirls Get The Blues' by far.

You know, it's really odd, but one novel it made me think of was American Gods. The film shares very little in common, but the idea of this mythology for America, both with OW as well as Interstate 60 and the towns involved, seemed very Gaiman-like.

You might like to try To The Vanishing Point by Alan Dean Foster then. It's a long time since I read it but I remember it as a similar story.

Yes, I too thought for sure that it must have been based off of a popular novel. I would actually like to Bob Gale to write a series of novels about the awesome I-60. I would definitely read all of them :)
