Did anyone ever notice this subtle dramatic touch?
Detroit Rock City easily has to be one of my favorite movies of all time. So it was during one of my repeated viewings that I noticed a bit of foreshadowing of information. Towards the beginning of the film when Lex and Trip are arguing about each other's moms, Hawk stops the fighting stating that the "mom-bashing" wasn't cool and that both moms were respectable. Later, when the Hawkster is about to fool around with Amanda Finch, he tells her that his mom died in childbirth. Not to mention on top of this that none of the main characters' fathers are seen or mentioned in this film at all. This has to imply that Hawk (and the other boys) were very much influenced by their parents not being around. Seems like a heavy concept for a rock 'n roll movie, so it's no wonder that the director only hinted to it. Any thoughts on this?
