This actually looks pretty good.

Disclaimer: I can't watch movies, concussion.

I watched like two or three trailers for this and I was laughing pretty good and thought the gags worked well. Plus it looks like the characters are more than likeable, and the actors look great, great situational humour.

I don't know, I feel like it's Clerks meets Dazed and Confused with Breakfast Club thrown in a little. I know it's not as good as those. But... it really does look like a great movie.

Just the way Furlong says "DIsco's dead!"

Can you truly not watch movies/concussion? Honest question, I've never heard of such a thing.

Movie is awesome, soundtrack goes 1150% perfectly/brilliantly with every scene. Near perfect movie...

I just saw the movie for the first time last week. ( better late than never). I liked it. Not the greatest comedy , but it was better than I expected. The main characters, while obvious stereotypes, were likable. The relationship between one of the characters and his mother was a bit disturbing, but I think that was Gene Simmons giving the finger to all those parents who protested KISS back in the day.
Bottom line, after you regain your ability to watch movies, I recommend this for a good laugh .

It certainly has greatness in it... the opening credits montage of '70s pop culture is GREAT. The atmosphere does sort of capture the era, though these things can never be perfect. Dazed did a really good job with that for example. Detroit Rock City may not be perfect but it has a lot of heart, great music, strong cinematography for a modest budget and it's a fun ride. I like it a lot and am surprised at how good it looks in HD. It's available through streaming services as no Blu-ray yet exists. Hopefully one day.

The movie was good for nostalgic reasons. I was in grade school when the movie took place, so I remember a little about KISS and disco for all their glory and infamy. I was too young to be going to a KISS concert at that time, but my parents did own an orange Volvo wagon.

I thought too much of the movie went over the top, even for comedy. For example, Jam's mom broadcasting her anti-KISS diatribe over the school PA for everyone to hear, then immediately enrolling him in the Catholic/military school the next day. Or Lex somehow gets the junkyard dogs on his side with just a Frisbee, and sicks them on the guys in the garage. You would think that they own the dogs. Cesar Millan could not do that.

But the movie had its moments.

There's no way KISS will ever do a disco album!

Trip was such a di*k, he really deserved everything that happened to him.

When the four of them split up to have their own individual adventures, was that meant to be analogous to the members of KISS each releasing a solo album? Hmmm.

Probably, because that turned out pretty horribly, too.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.
