did he mention kate's character from kiss the girls? also, in the book kiss the girls did anything romantic happen between kate and him? Thanks!

No because Along Came a Spider happens earlier than Kiss the Girls, in the book series. I haven't read the book of KTG so I wouldn't know about a relationship.

i had no idea. So he didn't mention her in the movie because it was supposed to be b4?

That's correct. I guess it was a prequel.
