Soneji - Why?

While I thought this movie was decent, I also see it as a considerable dissapointment in comparisson to the book. The one area in which the movie suffered the most was its treatment of Gary Soneji. I have no qualms with Michael Wincott. In fact, I think he did a good job. I just feel his role needed to be expanded. In Patterson's books, Soneji was a criminal mastermind; a Hannibal Lechter-type. In this movie, they (rather lamely) killed him off and didn't give enough insight into his twisted mind. Bummer.

Yeah, yeah, I agree completely. I still don't know why they killed Soneji, since they might wanna make a movie of another book with him. And also, he's my favorite villian in James Patterson's books, and I wish they had made him more... like you said, twisted. Yeah.

In the novel, Gary Soneji is an intelligent, but troubled lunatic, sort of the Hanibal Lector/John Doe/Max Cady mould. He shouldn't have died in the movie.
