'Someone At The Top Of The Stairs' episode

I've just recently started watching Thriller for the first time since it only came out a matter of days ago. I've only gotten up to the third episode, Someone At The Top Of The Stairs, and noticed something very familiar about it.

The characters in this episode keep saying "Marvelous" and hold their hands together near their faces. This reminds me a LOT of Mr.Burns from The Simpsons. Is this just a mere coincidence or is this what Mr.Burns' catchphrase is actually based on?

What a good question! Haven't seen anything to link them. Maybe it was subliminal influence!

Even before I found out where it was really from, I thought Homer's "DOH!" resembled a catchphrase from an old Laurel & Hardy and it turned out that's what it was based on. Many of The Simpsons characters are either based on real people, their voices are or both.

I may try asking on The Simpsons board but I'm not sure if most of them would even had heard of this show!

Mr Burns' catchphrase is "excellent".

I'm fully aware of that. I meant that the way it was said resembled Mr.Burns, even if the word was different. Many of the characters in The Simpsons have characteristics based off of real people or characters in old shows except that they're altered.
