Hello,

Sorry if the question sounds strange but I read that Jason Biggs who played Jim in the movie has been often cast as a Jewish character despite not being Jewish himself and 'American Pie' war given as an example.
I saw the movie a long time ago but I don't remember any hints as to Jim being Jewish, I don't even think religion was discussed at all. So, my question is - are there lines or scenes or stereotypes depicted in the movie which refer to Jim being Jewish? Thanks.

In American Wedding, it is revealed that by Jim's grandmother that he is Jewish. His grandmother doesn't like Michelle because she is not Jewish.

Also, his father in the movie is played by EUGENE LEVY.

Jason Biggs has become a sort of "honorary Jew"--an actor who's not Jewish but whose characters are often presumed to be, as a matter of course. (Some other actors like this: John Turturro, Nathan Lane.) There were a lot more references to Jim's Jewishness in the third movie, including an in-joke revolving around his grandmother's disapproval of the shiksa he's marrying (while Biggs isn't Jewish, Alyson Hannigan, in fact, is). In the first movie, the only real indicator was his last name, and perhaps the fact that his dad was played by Eugene Levy.

I'd bet Daniel Craig is another "honorary Jew" too because he's played Jew roles in the past and did a terrific job. Plus, his eyes... HIS BLUE BEAUTIFUL EYES. Oh god, they're so clear I almost wanna have the same eyes. 

I'm just shocked to hear Jason Biggs isn't Jewish as he always comes across that way. For over 15 years I've referred to him as "the little Jewish boy who *beep* the pie"!

Apparently Wooden Allen cast him in a movie because he thought he was Jewish. He's Italian.

Jason Biggs is black and his character Jim was Asian. 😀

There used to be a site called jewhoo.net that "outed" many celebrity Jews. It even had a page for people who were assumed to be Jewish but weren't. Jason Biggs was probably on that page.
