I've tried to find out and while I realize the parents were a very minor focus in the movie, it was so odd that it was never explained. At least I missed it. He was photographer for his main job and off he goes in a space suit? What was that about? Thanks.

The Dalek model Steven's dad is tinkering with earlier in the movie. And I assume that the wife doesn't go there for the convention, but to spend some time alone with her husband.

Do we know what Ben Silverstone is up to? The website with his name has a lot of stuff on it and then nothing after 2006 or so. I can watch this movie over & over - I SURE wish they would do a sequel. Another subject I truly understand Brad Gorton's character was totally insecure about his Gay feelings but I really thought the kick to the stomach was OVER the top. And then when he said out on the bench "never loved anyone so much." I wanted to puke. An apology would have been totally inadequate at that point of course, but I'm surprised it wasn't in the script. Your thoughts if you have time? Thanks.

shareI didn't get the whole "Doctor Who" thing either, but I watched it with a friend who explained it to me. There are several "Doctor Who" references throughout the film. I found it kind of ironic that this guy was ashamed of his son (at first), because he might want to look in his own closet.
