Linda, Steven's neighbor, almost steals this movie
I love Charlotte Brittain in this movie!
She plays Linda, Steven's next door neighbor, and , I think, she
steals every scene that she is in.

"Almost"?!
Definitely the best character in the movie. Wouldn't have been the same without her.
She was great fun during filming too. I remember when we were filming the scene where she is taking a driving lesson, she actually mounted the curb quite hard and caused a puncture in one of the tyres. I remember bursting out laughing and then thinking I had ruined the sound recording for that scene!
shareIt's great seeing a crew member commenting on one of my all time favorite movies.
This film resonated with me because of the whole coming out dilemma though it felt even more difficult in the late 70's in America.
For me, Linda in a way followed in the great Shakespearean tradition of a wise clown to add levity to an otherwise too tense situation. Of course, she also sets up as many of my favorite lines as she delivers...
When she "notices" that Steven has gotten an erection while dancing with her...
"Oh, not you too!"
"Sorry, I was thinking of someone else"
Yep, that's a good line.
I also like it when they are at the disco and Kevin comes up to her and says,
"And you are...?"
Linda says, 'Thirsty'.
Kevin then replies, "Please to meet you Kirsty".
I really enjoyed filming that disco scene. Great fun.
