This looks great. The cast is great. The costume and props are great. The run ti.e is a little too long.
But holy cow does the dialogue between Ricci and Depp suck in this.
Cut that relationship out of the movie and it wouldn't hurt the movie.
Also get rid of the stupid Ichabod backstory. Then the runtime would be great.
Just rewatched this. I think the backstory is there to show how he'd come to trust a "good witch" so easily. Yes, runtime was too long.

To Johnny Depp's credit, I saw two of his movies multiple times in theaters. SH was 2 times and Pirates of the Caribbean 3 times.
Depp can mltake something ok and turn it into something special...and he can also ruin some things. He was great in this.

shareinitially, he refused to acknowledge the supernatural. He only believed in science. He had forgotten the memories of his mother's witchcraft. He had the flashback and then saw the protective spell. I never got the impression he was wary of witchcraft, just didn't believe in it at first.
shareYes, he did not believe in the supernatural at first, but he definitely seemed wary as he did not "easily" trust her once he discovered she was a witch. His first thought was that the protective spell was black magic to summon the Horseman.
