This would have been a good jumping off point to a new franchise...
...a mostly enjoyable film. Burton did great with the look of the film. Too bad it was not too well received. It has aged well though.

shareBut it's a good thing it wasn't. There are far too many movie franchises, and most of them suck.
shareI enjoy this movie but wouldn't want sequels
shareI'm trying to figure out what sort of franchise this could be? I enjoy the movie, but it ends and I don't think it lends itself to a continuation.
shareYeah that's a head scratcher.
shareJohnny Depp fighting other supernatural beings from American folklore perhaps?
Not everything needs to become a franchise.
I could see the potential, Depp was charming as Crane, and there's always room for enlarging on the themes of rationality vs. the supernatural.
Or would be, in the hands of someone who understood rationality, and Tim Burton does not.
I wasn't a fan of this movie. I can't even remember if I finished it or not the first time when I revisited it a few years ago. I know a lot of times when at first you don't like a movie and then you watch it again some years later, that sometimes you can get more of an appreciation of it. But that didn't happen for me this time. I still didn't like the movie. It was definitely a beautifully shot movie. But I was hoping that it had a more serious tone instead of campy.
shareSleepy Hollow seemed pretty serious to me. I actually think all the campiness was needed to lighten the mood. At least that's just my personal preference.
I'm usually not a fan of Tim Burton's movies. I love his style so much, but I can never get behind the stories. This one, however, I actually really liked.
I think it's a good film just on it's own. Watched Sleepy Hollow for the first time recently and I agree it's aged well. Didn't know it wasn't well received! Sometimes the best movies aren't.
shareYeah. It had mediocre reviews at the time. I really enjoy it and like to watch ir around this time of year. Last time i watched it was with my Cat Vincent. Fall 2020....π
Hes gone now sadly...π
Sleepy Hollow is shot in such a way that resembles many silent films from the 1910s and 20s. I pointed out this inspiration as I was watching with my family. I just realized it's that time of year again to watch Halloween movies. I guess when I watched this it might've actually been about a year ago. Doesn't seem like it.
Rip to your cat, as a cat lover myself
maybe a franchise with christopher walken returning as the horseman, i don't think johnny depp liked playing the character
